Step by step guidelines on how to Change Water Heater Element:

Step 1: Turn OFF the Power:

First of all, you are supposed to turn the power off, which is the circuit breaker at the electrical panel. You need to perform a voltage test to make sure that the power is no reaching the water heater. It would be best if you kept in mind that you are working water and electricity, so it is essential to take the precautionary measure of turning off the power.

Step 2: Attaching the hose to the drain valve:

The second thing you should be doing is attaching a hose to the drain valve and then opening the valve. On this point you should not be draining the tank, you have to check that there is no clogging.

Step 3: Turn OFF the Water
